5th Screen

Philips Lumalive was one of the keynote speakers at the 5th screen think tank in Berlin. The 5th screen think tank, organized by trend research company, Trendone, at the IDZ International Design Center was about exploring the future evolution of the screen and the innovations of the future. First there was Cinema-TV-PC/Web-Mobile- what is the screen of tomorrow? What is the 5th screen? On the topic of Wearable Technology Philips Lumalive presented it's vision about expressing emotions through LED integrated textile.

As an active member of the Smart Fabrics community, Philips Lumalive attended the 4th annual Smart Fabrics conference in Charlston, South Carolina, USA and presented the current state of the Lumalive technology in the marketplace as well as potential future applications and technology developments.
In its 4th year running, Smart Fabrics 2008 brought together innovators and enthusiasts of e-textiles. The event provided an opportunity for leading developers, manufacturers and end users of smart fabric technologies to discover and discuss the growth potential of this burgeoning industry. Philips Lumalive explores the fashion market with Swarovski

The Swarovski and Philips teams collaborated together on a new project, the Lumalive bag concept, exploring the possibilities of combining crystals with light in fashion accessories. Glamour and feminine, the bag concept called 'Favourite' is made from violet leather with a large band decorated with faceted crystal detail. This new accessory reveals an original and playful way of communicating. The Lumalive technology makes it possible to display luminous messages by integrating colourful light in textiles and introduces a distinctive medium to express yourself by communicating emotions or ideas in a joyous and unexpected manner. This glamorous customization makes this bag an unusual accessory, an illustration of futuristic Fashion design.
